Brooke van Velden
ACT Party Deputy Leader
Brooke grew up in Auckland with three older brothers, where her parents were small business owners. After studying economics and international trade at the University of Auckland, she worked as both a factory worker and corporate affairs consultant.
Before becoming a Member of Parliament, Brooke worked as a staffer for ACT leader David Seymour. She was selected as ACT's deputy leader in June 2020, at the age of 27, and was placed second on its party list for the 2020 general election. In November 2020, she was appointed as ACT's parliamentary whip and is also the party's spokesperson for Health, Housing, Foreign Affairs, and Trade.
Brooke lives in Wellington and enjoys yoga, knitting and tapestry in her free time.
