David Farrar
David was born in 1967 and as a child suffered from a severe speech defect. His language was slow to develop and he had almost a decade of speech therapy. This initial set back has not held David back from having things to say. He now writes one of New Zealand’s most well-read blogs, Kiwiblog, and gets around half a million page views per month and over 500 comments each day. The New Zealand Listener 2009 Power List even named him the 4th most powerful person in the New Zealand media because of the influence of his blog.
Farrar studied at the University of Otago as well as Victoria University in Wellington. He served on the Council of Otago University as a student representative, was President of the Commerce Faculty Students’ Association and chaired the Student Representative Council. He was also the Otago correspondent for Campus News which was an alternative student newspaper.
Farrar has worked for four National Party leaders in government and is an honorary member of Young Nationals, due to his many years of service to the organisation. He is a director of New Zealand Domain Name Registry and manages his own market research company.
