Efeso Collins is of Samoan and Tokelauan descent. Raised in Otara, he is the youngest of six children. Efeso is married to Fia and they have one daughter, and attend a local Samoan church in West Auckland.
Efeso is passionate about Pasifika people having a voice in New Zealand and has worked with young people for many years.
In the local body elections 2013, Efeso was elected to the Otara-Papatoetoe Local Board and became Chairman. In the elections of 2016, he was elected to the Auckland Council and was sworn in as councillor for the Manukau in November 2020. Efeso was the first in his family to attend and graduate from university.
