Real Life with John Cowan

Born in South Africa, Heather and her family moved to New Zealand when she was 12 years old. After growing up in Pukekohe, Heather studied politics at Auckland University.

She began her journalism career at TV3 and Radio Live before shifting to TVNZ for nearly a decade, including two years on Seven Sharp. In mid 2015 Heather returned to TV3, co-hosting primetime current affairs show Story alongside Duncan Garner. In 2016 Heather left Mediaworks once more, and now is a regular columnist for the Herald on Sunday.

Heather lives in Auckland with her husband, Newstalk ZB's political editor, Barry Soper.
