Leader of the Opposition

Born in and raised in Auckland, Simon attended the University of Auckland, completing a BA in Political Science and History.


After working as a lawyer in Auckland, he moved to Tauranga in 2001 taking up a position as Crown prosecutor in the District and High Courts.


Simon then took time in England to complete a Bachelor of Civil Law at the University of Oxford, where he met his wife Natalie.


Elected to parliament as the MP for Tauranga in 2008, Simon has served in several Cabinet portfolios, including as Minister of Transport and Minister of Economic Development and has been Leader of the National party since February 2018.


Simon and his wife live in Tauranga with their three young children.
