James Shaw entered parliament in the 2014 general election as a member of the Green Party, being named co-leader the following year.

James was born and raised in Wellington. In 1998 he moved to London for 12 years before returning to New Zealand in 2010. While in London, he gained an MSc in sustainability and business leadership, and led a successful career in management consulting.

His hopes for New Zealand to transition to a more inclusive economy and lead the way to a healthier planet have more recently propelled him into politics.

James and his wife Annabel now reside in Aro Valley, Wellington, where he enjoys spending time in the local community.
