Mea Motu

New Zealand’s Newest World Champion Boxer

Mea was born and raised in a small village outside of Kaitaia and moved to Auckland when she was 10. After discovering boxing at age 13, she soon met her current trainer and Peach Boxing founder, Isaac Peach. During her amateur career, she was trained by her mother and fought alongside her sister Sally Motu, who also won a New Zealand National title.

In just two short years, the mother of five aged between three and nearly 16, has gone professional, winning all 15 of her fights, with six knockouts and four national titles to her name. Mea headlined the Fight for Life card in Auckland on Thursday and claimed the IBO super bantamweight world title.
