Murray Edridge

Wellington City Missioner

Murray is the first non-ordained missioner to lead the Wellington City Mission in its 114 years, and the first in two decades to also assume the chief executive role.

Murray previously worked as a Chartered Accountant, but a wish to respond to families and communities in need saw him move to the not for profit sector, as the CEO of Barnardos NZ for over eight years. Following this role, he became a Deputy Chief Executive in the Ministry of Social Development, responsible for Family and Community Services and Child, Youth and Family. He sees his previous employment as an asset in his new mission: being vocal about the needs of Wellington's most vulnerable.

Outside of work, Murray is a father to three grown-up children and enjoys fitness and DIY activities.
