Originally from Wales, Ray came to New Zealand in his twenties, expecting to stay for a year, and never left.
He was soon one of the leading members of Wellington’s theatrical community, a founding member of Circa theatre and has appeared in various films including “The End of the Golden Weather” and “The Lord of the Rings”.
His acting has taken him to television as well where he is best known for his recurring role of King Sisyphus on “Hercules” and “Xena”.
Now in his seventies he considers himself a New Zealander and cheers for the All Blacks even when they’re playing Wales.
