In 2010 he was elected Mayor of Carterton
Born and raised in the Wairarapa, Ron is a former ward of state, growing up in a number of foster homes. He overcame the adversity of a disadvantaged childhood to succeed in life, joining the New Zealand Army and rising to the rank of Major. He also served in Sultan of Oman's Special Forces. Major Ron Mark was a list MP for the New Zealand First party, and in 2010 he was elected Mayor of Carterton.
