Sir Ralph Norris

Sir Ralph Norris

Born in 1949 in Auckland, Ralph was educated at Lynfield College.

Ralph worked at ASB Bank for over 30 years, serving as CEO from 1991 until he moved to Air New Zealand in September of 2001.

The airline had been in a financial tailspin, and the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Centre in New York added an insecurity to the future of the entire airline industry.

Ralph succeeded in turning Air New Zealand around until he moved back to banking when he was made CEO of the Commonwealth Bank of Australia in 2005.

Ralph became Sir Ralph when he was knighted in 2009, and a year later he was named Outstanding Māori Business Leader for 2010.

Ralph is married with three children.
