Psychologist & Parenting Educator
One of the world’s best known parent educators and psychologist for 30 years, Steve is now retired but continues to write and teach. His books, including The Secret of Happy Children and Raising Boys are in four million homes and 31 languages. Steve also led and funded a 5 year human rights project that involved 300 schools and communities standing against the Australian government’s horrific treatment of asylum seekers arriving by sea. He is a patron of Sanctuary Refugee Trust and ACCM and of the Australian Religious Response to Climate Change.
Steve was voted Australian Father of the Year 2001 for his work encouraging dads, and a Member of the Order of Australia for his work in young people’s mental health. He has two grown up children, and lives in Tasmania with his wife and co-author Shaaron, and assorted wombats.
