Real Life with John Cowan

Sue Bradford is a political activist, academic and former Member of Parliament. She graduated from the University of Auckland in History and Political Studies, and later obtained a MA in Chinese. Sue undertook her postgraduate study at the University of Canterbury where she received a diploma in journalism. After working as a journalist, she spent 16 years in the unemployed workers movement.

Bradford served as a Member of Parliament representing the Green Party from 1999 to 2009. She then joined the Mana Party between 2011 and 2014.

Sue Bradford is most well known for being the driving force behind New Zealand's 'anti-smacking bill'. Bradford is currently a spokesperson for 'Auckland Action Against Poverty' and a co-chair of 'Kotare Trust'.
