Buzz Aldrin
Buzz Aldrin was the second man to walk on the moon.
Mr Aldrin was born in 1930 as Edwin Eugene Aldrin, Jr. He was first called Buzz because his sister struggled to call him ‘brother', pronouncing it ‘buzzer' instead. Over the years this was shortened to ‘Buzz' and he eventually legally changed his name to ‘Buzz Aldrin'.
Some say he was always destined to travel in space as his mother's name was Marion Moon. And he did. On July 20th, 1969 he became the second man to set foot on the moon, directly after Mission Commander, Neil Armstrong.
Buzz is not only an astronaut; he was also an Air Force officer and fought in the Korean War as a fighter pilot. Buzz has authored several books, both fiction and non fiction. He and his wife Lois have six grown children between them and one grandson
