Colin Craig

Born in 1968, in Auckland, Colin grew up as one of five children in Howick, East Auckland.

His grandmother had been raised in an Edinburgh slum and her frugal outlook had a profound influence on Colin growing up.

He attained his Bachelor of Commerce and Arts degrees from the University of Auckland and later became a chartered accountant.

He moved into a property management role which lead him to clash with local government over the leaky homes saga. In a bid to see things change, Colin unsuccessfully ran for Auckland Mayor in 2010.

Turning his political attention toward central government, Colin established the Conservative Party just three months before the New Zealand general election in 2011.

The party failed to secure enough votes to enter parliament, but that has not deterred Colin from continuing to make headlines and affecting political discourse from the side-lines.
