When he was just 13, David started writing for a Wellington newspaper and has spent the last 21 years in television. In between, he continued to write for newspapers including RNZ and The Listener.
He was the first New Zealand journalist to gain access to the French nuclear testing sites on Mururoa Atoll and has many documentaries to his name including Wahine Disaster, the story of New Zealand’s 1968 maritime disaster and The Real Mr Asia, about the most infamous drug ring in the Pacific.
David also produced current affairs programmes 60 Minutes and Sunday andwas part of the original team on Holmes.
David fronted the TV3 show Lost and Found for 11 years, where he bought together family members who had, for any number of reasons, become estranged. Following on from the success of the show which ended last year, his new show David Lomas Investigates premiered in April, exploring New Zealand's family secrets. David travels across the world to find the answers and to reunite families.
