Kim Workman

2018 Senior New Zealander of the Year

Wellington social justice advocate and public servant, Kim Workman is the recipient of the 2018 Senior New Zealander of the Year Award. His commitment to overcoming issues related to criminal justice, welfare and prison reform has positively influenced the lives of many New Zealanders and their families for over 50 years. As head of the Prison Service he established a mentoring programme for released prisoners.


Kim has received awards of Honorary Doctorates from Massey and Victoria University, and since 2007 he has focused on justice reform, public advocacy, policy and research.
