Sophie Pascoe
Born in Christchurch, Sophie has an amazing story - where an accident at a young age has set her on a path of achieving some incredible sporting records.
In 2008, Sophie was the youngest athlete at the Paralympics and the youngest ever New Zealander to win a medal. Sophie was 15 and later that year she was voted New Zealand's favourite Paralympian in a nationwide voting competition. Sophie was made a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit in the 2009 New Year's Honours, for her services to swimming.
Sophie currently holds 4 World Records and after her success at the 2016 Summer Paralympics, Sophie took her gold medal count to nine and her total medal count to 15. This makes her New Zealand's most successful Paralympian.
Sophie is a part of a powerful campaign currently running which tells her life story 'What's Your Why'.
